All Patched Up

Suit
Nothing is better than a tweed jacket with some badass elbow patches. This WHRB Harvard Radio hip-hop DJ and Pfoho house student dons one with attitude—and he pairs it with a pair of beaten shoes purchased from Boston’s Chinatown. An interesting juxtaposition that’s keepin’ it real.

I love how the orange in the thrifted shirt matches the lining of the jacket so well!

Ms. Peacock

Peacock
It seems that the cold weather doesn’t stop this Leverett House junior / sociology concentrator from getting tropical. This peacock hair accessory was actually made by the wearer herself–assembled together with some craftstore items. How nifty!

Hope you all had a happy holiday season. We are now back on campus and once again snapping away. Hope your semester is full of broad smiles–like those of this Mather House junior and the critter that sits on top of her head!

Studs and apologies!

Erika
Sorry for the really long hiatus. Like all the other Harvard students, we’ve been holed up cramming for finals! On the first day out (since the last time I saw sunlight before finals), I ran into Erika, who was carrying this amazing studded bag. Absolutely lovely.

Brown Hat
Attired in items from LF Stores in Harvard Square. Her pieces combine to create such an interesting silhouette–topped with a brilliant hat. And look at all those interesting bracelets! The alphabet one is rather endearing.

The White Stripe

White Stripe

I was walking along Church St. when all of a sudden, a streak of vivid, solid white caught in my peripheral vision——turns out, it was the scarf of a second year Divinity School student.

Well, if you were to ask me, I’d call his scarf divine. It’s incredible how a simple strip of white fabric manages to take on an ethereal force when offset by an otherwise completely dark outfit, isn’t it? Kind of goes to show just how visually powerful colors can be.

The Gato Rojo: The Red Cat

Posted by Colin + Emily on Tuesday, November 30th, 2010
Red Cat

Phew. It’s been a while since we’ve last posted. Sometimes the workload here leaves us tragically collecting cobwebs in the musty depths of Widener Library. But an escape to Cafe Gato Rojo gave us a nice change of scenery: a rather indie study spot perfumed with fresh coffee and replete with sartorially-minded students. KJ, featured, is one of the baristas who works there.

Torn tights, a grunge-chic floral dress, and black knee-high socks.

Red Cat
Silver, antique-esque pendant on a chain, and a cascade of fiery red hair to top it all off. Wonderfully offbeat and eclectic, I would say that her style is quite reflective of the Gato Rojo culture.

Note: For those of you wondering, these photographs are not taken inside the actual cafe, but in an area of the same building.

Bright

Bright
Bright – yes, that’s his name. The name of a poet living near Harvard Square. The name of a guy who dares to wear furry green gloves (and actually pull it off!). The little details make this outfit, look closely at the fine checks on the shirt, with the singular button hole on the collar; inspect the brilliant green on green matching; notice how the backpack matches the chinos perfectly; or bring your eyes to the gold ring on his ear. A spot of brightness in the cold winter night!
